This site was created and is maintained by an ad hoc group dedicated to saving the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Chalk River Subdivision, which extends from Smiths Falls to Pembroke, ON, passing through the communities of Carleton Place, Almonte (Mississippi Mills), Pakenham (Mississippi Mills) and Arnprior.

This railway line was leased to RailAmerica, which operated it as the Ottawa Valley Railway (OVR). Due to the economic problems of late, the lease has been relinquished, and the CPR has to wait only 60 days from that point before they may petition for abandonment. Shortly thereafter, the rail is expected to be ripped up, and it will be gone FOREVER!

We should learn from others who have lost their railways and lived to regret it. They learned that once they are gone, they don't ever come back.

To accomplish this very important goal, we need all the support we can get. The more supporters we have, the louder the voice with which we can speak. Please be a supporter, and also ask your spouse, parents, children (over 18) and friends to be supporters as well. Together, as a team, we can accomplish great things.

Now is the time for action to ensure that this important resource is saved.
Don't let become !!!
